Managing digital image files
Giving your images a name prefix
When you download digital pictures from your camera they are usually allocated a numerical file name such as: "123-456.jpg" . It would, however, be much better if your pictures had a file name that actually meant something to you. Giving each of the images a different name can be very time consuming and so ShowCreator has been designed with a good compromise solution. In the main window highlight all the images that belong together by clicking on them (multiple selection by holding the Ctrl. key). Now give all the highlighted images a name prefix.
This enables you, for example, to transform "123-456.jpg" into "NewYork_123-456.jpg".
It's in the nature of digital photography to take more than one picture of a particular subject or scene. But sometimes it can be difficult to know which image to save and which one to delete. ShowCreator can help. Highlight two pictures in the main window and select "Compare Images" from the pop-up menu...". ShowCreator opens a full-screen window displaying both the pictures at their ideal size for comparison purposes.
Start by creating a special folder for storing the images that you delete using the program settings. From now on any images that you delete in ShowCreator will be moved into this folder, meaning that they still exist and have not been permanently deleted. Then at the end of one of your image management sessions, you can reconsider the contents of your trash can. If you would like to delete the images permanently, this is done using Windows Explorer.
Relocating / copying images
Using ShowCreator you can create as many image folders as you want and open them in an external window - this makes managing your pictures so much easier. Highlight the images in a folder that you would like to relocate / copy and drag these with your mouse into the folder window of your choice.
|Highlighting an image:
||Left click on the image's thumbnail.
|Highlighting several images:
||Hold down the "Ctrl." key on your keyboard and click on the images that you want to highlight.
||Drag the highlighted pictures into the folder of your choice or select "Copy Images" from the pop-up menu.
||Drag the highlighted pictures into the folder of your choice while holding the Ctrl. key or, alternatively, select "Relocate Images" from the pop-up menu.
The ShowCreator is not a graphics software program and cannot be used to edit digital images. You can, however, specify a particular image editing program using the program settings window. Once this has been done, your graphics software will be started automatically when you double click on an image.
